Randall Coyne

IT TAKES A REALLY GOOD DRUMMER TO BE BETTER THAN NO DRUMMER AT ALL

Randall Coyne is a professional drummer and percussionist who graduated with a degree in Music from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1980.  While in Amherst, he studied percussion with Dr. Peter Tanner, and has taken master classes with Max Roach, Mongo Santamaria, Joe Morello, Dennis Chambers, Russ Miller, Pablo Sanchez, J.R. Robinson, and Joe LaBarbera.  Coyne studied drum set in New Orleans with Johnny Vidacovich.

After spending a few years as a high school band and choral director, he graduated magna cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1986.  His day jobs include working as a federal law clerk to Judge Oscar H. Davis of the U.S.Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and a two year stint as an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Skadden, Arps, before settling in as an endowed professor of law at the University of Oklahoma.

Presently, he performs with Susan Herndon and The Bella Counsel, Miss Brown to You, Red Dennis and the Red Devils, The Grand House Quartet, Knoh, The Crosspointe Vintage Band, and Highway 66.
